14days / 13nights Primitive Baliem Valley



DAY 01/MAR 20 : JAKARTA/BALI – JAYAPURA ARRIVAL (L,D)
Upon arrival at Sentani airport of Jayapura, meeting service then short transfer to Sentani Indah Hotel for your overnight and and dinner. The rest of the day will apply traveling permit (Surat Jalan), and excursion of Sentani lake, Museum of Anthropology and Jayapura. Dinner will be served at local restaurant.

DAY 02/MAR 21: JAYAPUR - WAMENA– JIWIKA (B,L,D) 
An early morning, transfer to airport for your 40 minutes flight to Wamena, the main town of Baliem valley or Dani Tribes’s home. Arrive at Wamena by car transfer to Jiwika village in the north of Baliem Valley for about 30 minutes. Lunch will be provided by your cook. After lunch visiting Dani villages and climb-up the Mili mountain to see the local people how to make salt traditionally with banana stems and bring home and used as salt. Dinner and overnight will be had at Lauk-Inn (simple accommodation) of Jiwika village.

DAY 03/MAR 22 : JIWIKA FULLDAY CEREMONY – WAMENA (B,L,D)
Today you will see and enjoy the Dani pig feast and dance, Here you may learn more about the Dani cultures and community life, which you will see how the dani kill a pig and cook into hot stone with sweet potatoes, vegetable as well. This performance will be held 4-5 hours. After enjoyed this performance back to our hut and stop at Sumpaima village to see the 250 years old Mummy. Lunch have at village then drive back to Wamena. Afternoon visit traditional local market and surrounding. Dinner and overnight at Baliem Pilamo Hotel.

DAY 04/MAR 23 : WAMENA – YANIRUMA/KOROWAI TRIBE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, by your charter Missionary plane to Yaniruma for an hour. Yaniruma is a home of Korowai tribe, the people who live in the tree house in traditional way, some of them still holding the old beliefs and used to practice cannibalism until Missionary arrived and build new settlements to get the Korowai tribe more developed. The Missionary arrived in year 1970’s brought Christian religion to Korowai people. Yaniruma was opened for tourist in early 1980’s but until now the place is still the most remote tribe and desired by most of adventurous tourists all at once anthropology expedition. It’s unique culture and environment make adventurers interest to come. Upon arrival at Yaniruma, walk to guest house, guest house does not have beds, so you will sleep on the floor with thin mattress and mosquito net. Afternoon you may walk around while your guide arrange local porters and preparation for your next trip into the interior of Korowai jungle.

DAY 05/MAR 24 : YANIRUMA – KOROWAI (B,L,D)
After breakfast, walk 5 minutes to small river where you will start your adventure into Korowai tribe by paddle of dugout canoe to for crossing Dairam kabur river. From the side of Dairam Kabur river, begining your trek about 4 -5 hours with passing thru swampy lowland, some small rivers without bridge or one single log as a bridge, sometimes difficult to cross rivers without bridge but your local porter will be happy to ascort you. Lunch will be provided by your cook under the trees. Afternoon arrive at village of Korowai tribe and may joining to see their daily life. Dinner and overnight at tree house or tent.

DAY 06/MAR 25  : KOROWAI TREK (B,L,D)
After breakfast, move to another tree house community. The Korowai is semi nomadic people, therefor the trip is more like searching where they live. The terrain will always be wet and muddly. The temperature is hot and humid, there are mosquitoes in the area. Make sure you have malaria medicines and mosquito repellent. Dinner and overnight stay at tent.

DAY 07-08/ MAR 26 & 27 : EXPLORE OF KOROWAI TRIBE / TREE HOUSE PEOPLE (B,L,D)
Spend the day with local people to learn their way of life survive in the jungle. After breakfast, you may go with them for hunting, fishing, or even join them gathering their main food , sago flour. You will see and learn how they do the sago processing from the start to the end. Meals & overnight at tent.

DAY 09/MAR 28 : TREE HOUSE - BASMAN VILLAGE (B,L,D)
The last adventure in jungle of Korowai tribe 5-6hours trek under the trees and thru rivers and sago swamp with your local porter, guide & cook till Basman village. Lunch serve en route. Basman village is border of Korowai tribe and Citak Mitak tribe who live nearly. Afternoon swimming at Dairam Kabur river near Basman. Dinner and overnight at nurse’s house of Basman village.

DAY 10/MAR 29 : BASMAN – SENGGO/ASMAT  (B,L,D)
With motorized canoe for about 6-7 hours down stream of Dairam Kabur river all the way to Senggo the sub District of Citak Mitak tribe region. Along the river sides, you could see local people paddling on their canoes and some birds. Lunch serve on the boat while Dinner and stay at local guest house of Senggo

DAY 11/MAR 30 : SENGGO - ATSY – ASMAT VILLAGE (B,L,D)
From Senggo, proceed by boat again for another long ride to entry of Asmat tribes and villages via Atsy. Atsy is the second largest sub District in the Asmat region. Pass the big rivers of Wilderman and Sirets, the most well-known river to the Asmat people, enjoy view & surrounding from boat till arrive at village in the afternoon.
Overnight at Asmat house or school (Boat ride approx. 6-7 hours). Afternoon arrive at village and see the Asmat tribe with daily life and evening they will sing of their traditional songs.

DAY 12/MAR 31  : ASMAT VILLAGE – AGATS (B,L,D)
Today after breakfast, enjoy the Asmat ceremonies of Canoe racing, dance and Mbist pole (Mbist pole is their ancestor). For Asmat ceremonies normally do for 4 hours. After enjoy their ceremonies, as usually the Asmat tribes open the temporary market which they will sell their lovely arts and statue and they desire visitor wanted to buy some of their arts. Lunch will serve at local house then get motorized canoe to continue your trip to Agats (Agats is town of Asmat tribes). Afternoon arrive at Agats and walk around. Dinner and overnight at local simple accommodation in Agats.

DAY 13/APRIL 01  : AGATS – TIMIKA (B,L,D)
An early in the morning, walk to dock for your charter motorized canoe to Timika around 9-10 hours. Or by small airplane to Timika. Dinner and overnight at hotel of Timika.

DAY 14/APRIL 02  : TIMIKA – JAKARTA / BALI (B)
Breakfast at hotel, then proceed to the airport for your flight to Jakarta or Bali. End of our services!!!!!!!!!!
